How to increase your productivity by a multiple?
--
When it comes to increasing our productivity we usually tend to think of a new time scheduling technique or a new habit to avoid procrastination. However if we look very deep into ourselves and analyze our thought patterns, we will quickly realize that our thoughts are occupied nearly 80% of our time on repeated topics such as:
- Our worries and concerns
- Tasks that we have procrastinated for so long and still need to do
- Our dreams and desires
So the main productivity killer happens not in the execution process, but the thought patterns themselves when we repeatedly think about the same things in a constant loop.
The difference of productivity between extremely successful / productive and regular individuals is solely the thought process. If you look at individuals such as Steve Jobs or Elon Musk, what makes them so different is that they know exactly what they want to achieve and what it takes to do to get there. This so to call “singular clarity” is what provides them so much mental capacity that they use for the operational tasks instead of looping through thoughts of worries and dreams.
And honestly speaking, they are also humans. That means if they can do it, so can we and to achieve that we need to take following steps:
- Write down all our worries and dreams that keep our mind occupied
- Define a measurable goal for each of those points that clearly states if we have achieved it or not
- Define clear steps that need to be done to achieve those goals
Now it all comes to execution. And here is the thing: if we have that “singular clarity”, motivation should not be an issue. Deeply inside of us, we should already know why we wish to achieve those goals and this is a desire that will fuel us to get up and start taking action!
